Vice President Kamala Harris Tests Positive For COVID-19

The White House reported that Vice President Kamala Harris tested positive for COVID-19. Harris completed her two-dose vaccination last January and received boosters. She received positive rapid and PCR tests; however, she exhibited no symptoms. Harris has isolated and is working from the vice president’s residence.

Thankfully, Madame Vice President Kamala Harris hasn’t been in close contact with President Biden or First Lady Dr. Jill Biden. In addition, Harris will return to the White House once she tests negative. The results come just after the U.S. has primarily lifted most of its COVID-19 restrictions. And more than one month after her husband, Second Gentlemen Doug Emhoff, tested positive for COVID-19.

Earlier this month, several members of the White House staff tested positive for COVID-19. By federal public health guidelines, officials and visitors are not required to wear masks or socially distance themselves at significant White House events. Furthermore, coronavirus cases in Washington have declined since their peak in early January but are back on the rise again. As of now, the White House isn’t considering returning to COVID-19 restrictions. “We are continuing to implement the return-to-work policy and feel we have the measures necessary to do that,” White House press secretary Jen Psaki said.
