What are the different forms of Diabetes?
According to Mayo Clinic Diabetes also called: diabetes mellitus is a group of diseases that result in too much sugar in the blood (high blood glucose).
The most common types of Diabetes are:
Type 2 diabetes
A chronic condition that affects the way the body processes blood sugar (glucose).
Type 1 diabetes
A chronic condition in which the pancreas produces little or no insulin.
Prediabetes
A condition in which blood sugar is high, but not high enough to be type 2 diabetes.
Gestational diabetes
A form of high blood sugar affecting pregnant women.
What are symptoms of Diabetes?
According to the CDC, if you have any of the following diabetes symptoms, see your doctor about getting your blood sugar tested:
- Urinate (pee) a lot, often at night
- Are very thirsty
- Lose weight without trying
- Are very hungry
- Have blurry vision
- Have numb or tingling hands or feet
- Feel very tired
- Have very dry skin
- Have sores that heal slowly
- Have more infections than usual
