2023 Black Health Matters Black History Calendar

Black Health Matters is pleased to offer the free GameChangers in Medicine Calendar, 2023-2024.  This new edition honors African American medical innovators and thought leaders from the past and present who have made significant contributions in the field of medicine. These individuals have trailblazed paths in research, treatments, and leadership, and changed the face of medicine in America.

Tell us a little about your affiliations as we look to make our calendar available to a broader audience.

It is our privilege to honor these professionals with this calendar. Generally speaking, African American patients are more likely to feel comfortable with African American doctors.  They are more likely to bond with a doctor who makes them feel more at ease, understands their mistrust of the health care system, and is more likely to give them the diagnoses and treatments that may have otherwise been overlooked. Some studies have shown that Black patients even have better outcomes when they are treated by a Black doctor.

Black Health Matters is extremely fortunate to once again have the support of Alnylam Pharmaceuticals, Inc. in creating this educational calendar.  Alnylam is a key partner that shares our belief in the importance of educating communities to improve health disparities. We are thrilled to have them join us in acknowledging and celebrating the accomplishments of African American physicians.
