Another legendary actor has gained their wings. “Good Times” actor Johnny Brown passes away at 84. Sadly, he passed away on Wednesday, and as of now, no further details about his death have been released. On Friday evening, Brown’s daughter, Sharon Catherine Brown, posted an Instagram post about the devastating news.

The Life of Johnny Brown
On June 11, 1937, Johnny Brown was born in St. Petersburg, FL, and raised in Harlem, NY. He won an amateur night competition at the famous Apollo Theater. And he starred in acts with his future wife, June Brown, and the late Gregory Hines Jr. In addition, Brown recorded songs for Columbia and Atlantic Records.
He made his film debut in the 1966 film “A Man Called Adam” and later in “The Out of Towners” in 1969. Brown’s early TV work included “The Leslie Uggams Show,’ “Julia,’ “Love, American Style,” and “Rowan & Martin’s Laugh-In.” After a few guest appearances, he was cast as the beloved Bookman on “Good Times.” He appeared in 58 episodes from 1975 to 1979. Brown appeared in “The Wiz” and provided voices for the Saturday morning cartoon series.
Brown continued his TV career by starring on some of Black television’s biggest sitcoms such as “The Jeffersons,” “Moonlighting,” “Martin,” “Family Matters,” and “Everybody Hates Chris.” In 2013, he starred his last film, “In Da Cut.”
