Go orange for your heart
My mother always says if she doesn’t have her glass of orange juice each morning, she feels “off” all day. Score (another) one for Mom. The many health benefits from eating oranges are well documented. They are rich in vitamin C, which offers antioxidant protection and helps boost the immune system, and they are a good source of fiber and other important nutrients like folate, thiamine, potassium, vitamin A and calcium—which is crucial for maintaining strong bones. And now research shows that the antioxidant hesperidin found in orange juice can lead to better blood vessel health and significantly reduce the risk of heart disease. It doesn’t take much; study subjects saw improvement in blood pressure with just 500 milliliters a day for 30 days.
