A stomach bug called Cyclospora is the cause behind hundreds of sick people across 15 states. Some health officials have linked the outbreak to prepackaged salad mixes. Stomach cramps and diarrhea are the two main symptoms individuals experience. Cases were reported in Arkansas, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Iowa, Kansas, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Texas, and Wisconsin.
Currently, the CDC and FDA haven’t officially declared the bagged greens as the culprit. Furthermore, no specific brand of salad mix has been identified. However, consumers are urged to wash all of their fresh produce, even if labeled “pre-wash.”
