N95 masks are coming to pharmacies and grocery stores near you. And here’s where to receive your free masks. It’s been a week since the Biden administration announced they would deploy 400 free N95 masks. These high-quality masks are the same masks healthcare workers wear and can be worn up to five times.
Every individual can receive three free masks pending availability. The White House launched this initiative after the CDC’s new recommendations. According to the CDC, cloth masks are no longer effective in preventing the spread of the Omicron variant. Therefore, people should wear N95 masks. These coveted masks come from the Strategic National Stockpile, which has more the 750 million masks on hand.
How To Receive Your Free N95 Masks
On Monday, Meijer, which operates over 250 grocery stores and pharmacies in the Midwest, stated they had received 3 million masks. “The masks will be in boxes set on a table near the Meijer Greeter stand of the grocery entrance,” the company said. “The Greeter, who will be wearing gloves, will place the N95 masks in piles of three for the customers to take.”
Kroger, Walgreens, and CVS are participating in the distribution program. The masks are available for free while supplies last. It is expected for the first store to start offering the masks on JAN 28th and will continue while supplies last. In addition, participating stores will have signage indicating mask availability.
